I spoke at an Insprhub and INSIDE Community session on 6 June 2026. The talk was Learn Concepts, Not Just Tools: why understanding why something works will always outlast knowing which button to press.
We walked through concept versus tool, why that distinction shows up in hiring, and how projects are where concepts come alive. Concepts are the map. Tools are just one route.
What I covered:
- Why something works the way it does, not only how to operate it
- Problem-solving frameworks, first principles, and systems thinking
- The difference between a concept and a specific tool, language, or shortcut
- Why conceptual thinking makes you more hireable than a list of tools
If you are early in your career, this is the distinction that separates people who get hired from people who stay stuck on the last tutorial.
